Combining implicit polynomials and algebraic invariants for representing and recognizing compli-
cated objects proves to be a powerful technique. There are several methods in the literature to determine the
algebraic invariants from the implicit polynomial coefficients of 2D curves under Euclidean, affine, and projec-
tive transformations. In this paper, we compare the performance of these invariants for object recognition using
a database of 337 Turkish carpet designs.
