Comparative evaluation of invariants of implicit polynomials for object recognition

Abstract: Combining implicit polynomials and algebraic invariants for representing and recognizing complicated objects proves to be a powerful technique. There are several methods in the literature to determine the algebraic invariants from the implicit polynomial coefficients of 2D curves under Euclidean, Affine and Projective transformations. In this paper, we compare the performance of these invariants for object recognition using a database of 337 Turkish carpet designs.
